The Wonderful Wines of Austria

Wednesday August 4, 2010
6:30 to 9:00pm

Austria has 50,000 hectares under vine yet Austria is often overlooked when it comes to premium wine.  Austria produces some of the world's greatest dry rieslings and super concnetrated dessert wines.  Add Gruner Veltliner and the indigenous red varieties of Zweigelt, St Laurent and Blaufrankisch and it's no wonder Austrian wine is creating quite a stir in the World of Wine.
Peter has been on a recent trip to Austria and is keen to share his stories over a glass (or 20) of Austria's best.
Maximum of 16 places - bookings essential
Cost: $99 incl GST

The Rhone Valley of France is the home of many grape varieties that are cornerstone to Australian wine.  Think shiraz, grenache and mourvedre in reds and marsanne, roussanne and the newcomer, viognier in whites.  Join Peter to explore the wines in depth from the region, tasting through the south Rhone on the first session followed by the north Rhone wines in the second session.
A selection of nibbles and cheeses will be served to compliment the wines.

Advanced Workshop - Tempranillo

Wednesday August 18, 2010
6:30 to 9:00pm

Tempranillo is Spain's most prominent red variety - the backbone of the great wines of Rioja and Ribera del Duoro.  Tempranillo is a new addition to Australian winegrowing and has quickly proved its potential.  This tasting will feature some of Australia's top contenders along with champions from Spain.  I plan to include a bracket of heavyweights from Rioja and Ribera del Duoro to round out the experience.
A selection of tapas should keep our hunger pangs at bay.
Maximum of 16 places - booking essential
Cost: $125 incl GST
